:confused:I want to start collecting cat fish what are some good species to start out with and what are some moderate and harder species i already have a cory cat;)

Red tail cats get way too big, unless you have a MONSTER tank. Get a gulper catfish. They are great and they are very personal. You don't need those big tanks for them, you can put them in 20 longs or in 29's. You would love hand feeding them and they can be very hungry at times.

yeah gulpers pictus jaguars if you can get a hold of em sun catfish 2

If your new to Cats, I'd prob get started with something like a pictus, or a 4line pim, Jaguar, Raphs anything like those guys are all pretty bullet proof and are great beginner cats.

As for moderate to harder species, it really depends on what your fish keeping history has been up till now. There are really only 2 types of catfish for Fish keeping... Easy and extremly hard...the Hard ones would be something like a Tig... very sensative to water, food, tank conditions ect... If space is no issue and your looking for the wow factor... REDTAILED Catfish all the way... Tigershovelnose is also a Must have in these tanks...Once you have those two... it's pretty much impossible to not want a hybrid of the two LOL, Lima shovelnose is the smaller tank species which can be great to have around, they get to around 18" on average so the tank needs to be able to be at least that wide.

Ok enough rambling... time to get back to the renovations LOL

yellow bullheads are great, (ive had mine since thanksgiving 07)
and since for some reason he is now only 3in he still remains in a 10gal
(i saw a 1ft adult today in a ditch)

a bit smaller are the pictus catfish caught, and am keeping (not sure what ssp.)

but madtoms are even better, only growing to 4in
