Hey guys, I'm planning on starting a new piranha tank soon. My tank is a 75 gallon. I was wondering if putting in 4 red bellies for life would be too much? I'm sure they would be fine while they are still small but what about when they are closer to full grown, Is that too much for the size of the tank?

I don't know a ton about pygos but it's my understanding that a 75g is too small for life for a shoal of 4. We had this discussion on another thread recently. They would probably be okay for a long long time especially if you over filter and keep up with PWCs.

Agreed... but I would still be looking at a larger tank for life. But the onus would be on you. Stick 'em into a 100 G - your life would be much easier.

Well i will be using an emperor 400. And I could keep up with water changes.. maybe if i start with 4 juvies and loose one i wont be overly disappointed.

I'd say 75g would be ok for 4 rbps for life, it certainly has enough width; however, if possible a longer tank will be better.
rbps don't get as large as caribes or pirayas, as long as you up the filtration and keep up with the weekly water change you should be fine.
