Hi, I'm new here and glad to meet all you fellow Loach lovers! I lost my first 2 3-4" CLs a couple months ago to Ick. I managed to save my Kubotai. I have since set up and cycled 2 quarantine tanks. I work at a big chain fish store, which shall remain nameless as I am ashamed to work there. Is there an abbreviation for that since it's not really a LFS? Maybe CFS? Anyways, any time we order CLs they get Ick. Some of them recover, and some of them don't. Sadly, corporate insists we order them, but won't provide proper tank set ups for them to live in or the medication to treat them.

I ordered some Juvi CLs and took them home straight in the bag on Wednesday. Prior to getting them the tank was cycled, stabilized, nuked with Ick meds and then restabilized. Despite my efforts, their first Ick spots have appeared, now Saturday. I'm not really looking for advice, since I already have a plan of attack to get rid of that stuff, but I'll post my water for those interested anyways.

Temp 80
Ammonia 0
Nitrites 0
Nitrates barely registering
PH 7.2
Soft Water
Alk 40-80 (PH stable and not tampering with it)

I also took home 6 sick 3" CLs from the store that have had a mild case of Ick for 3 weeks. They gave me a great price and will refund if they die, so I put them in another QT. Treatment is already started and hopefully they will recover.

So that's my new 12. Wish me luck! A couple of them are a little Odd'ish and if they live, I can't wait to see them grow and color up. One has a black face and a skunk-like line connecting his first 2 stripes, a couple look to be saddle backs, one of which has a dot on his head instead of a stripe over his eyes. Loachie pix in my sig.

Welcome to MFK. Always glad to have another clown loach fan on here.

I have always used high temps and aquarium salt for ich. I keep my tank around 82 degrees at all times and will kick it up a few more degrees when I notice any ich.

Welcome, sounds like you will fit in just right here...

Congrats! Glad to see another loach keeper on the forum!
