So in case you missed it, i'm the one who had his 220 explode a while ago. Well i'm looking into my next setup already. We truely are crazy aren't we? Anyways, my wife is "allowing" me to get a new tank under the following conditions.

1: It must be brand new

2: it must be 4' or less

3: it has to house Thomas (my prized male green sev who I managed to save) and a new fire eel who we sadly lost after the tank failure (unrelated though) plus a few other fish.

So I was looking on glasscages and they sell a 4x30"x25" (150g). I know this wouldn't hiuse a full grown fire eel, but it should work for atleast 3 years imo. My last eel (doug) was almost 3 years old and 23" or so. I am eventually going to get an acrylic 8x3x2.5 so it WILL eventually be upgraded. I love the 4x2.5 footprint and the price is amazing. Whats everyones opinion if this setup? Filtration will be an FX5 for bio and 2x emperor 400's for mech so that won't be an issue. So is this do able guys?

Lol, I wish that would work.

Or get an 8x4 and turn it sideways.

well ya gotta go 75 or bigger.....I'd do a wet pet cichlid (synaspillum comes to mind)plus maybe a con or firemouth (may not work )and a big pleco or a mid size cat ....or just go with what you said....if your gonna do your sev +a "few other fish"you would definatly want that real big tank...so the150 sounds right ...good luck.

No wet pet for me. If I could have multiple tanks I'd have a wet pet in one, but 1 tank limits my stocking. This is what i'm thinking.

Thomas (8" green sev)

I have a "Super red sev" that my brother is growing out of me (4"ish)

I want 1 more cichlid. I loved my bocourti that I lost but I dont think he would be comfortable in this tank, as mine hit 10" and crazy thick in a year. T. Pasiones or something not very common. still not sure yet.

I will get a fire eel around 8" or so

and lastly my pleco's

1xL190 1xL191 1xL330 and 1xL090. Going to stick with panaque. Already have the 7" L190, the rest will be slowly ordered after the tank is setup.

I might try a small schooling fish like cardinals or something similar, it depends on how "full" the tank looks. anyone see any problems with the planned stocking? or have any suggestions?

just an idea for thrd cichlid ..vieja heterospilla (monte cristo),not agg. not huge(8inch)and awsome looking. I've got one with a sev and a choc in a community tank and its been workingfor a while(about a year)...and they are rare ,rapps sometimes has them but hard to find otherwise

get a group of rosalines... dont have imput on the cichlid side of it. i would switch the fx and emps... use the emps primarily for bio and the fx for mech... replace the emps cartridges with the plastics and fill with io media.. wheels... running that much bio you wont need any in the fx.. also easy to just pull the carts and rinse then playing with the fx... just pull and dump the fxs floss ect as needed. hope that makes sense..
