Hello MFK, I just have a few questions on "starter rays".

1 What 3 rays are the easiest to take care of? I know they produce A LOT A LOT A LOT A LOT of ammonia which means you will need to do constant water changes that are decent sized.
2 Would a custom 300-400 gallon tank be good? (depending on the final size of the ray, ofc) with a custom floor foot print that is only 24inchs high leaving A LOT of room on the bottom.
3 What is a reputable vendor that will ship to Canada?
4 Would a room with not alot of traffic be good? Or does it not matter?
5 Could I keep a juvi ray in a 150 gallon for a while?

Thank you in advance

Read the stickies and use the search bar and you will find all the answers. There is also lots of threads answering these questions.

1. motoro, leo, henlie
2.yep for about 3-4 rays
3.Lot's of vendors and rep. hobbyists in Canada. No need to import them yourself. Some of the best are there as they don't have as many restrictions to bring in fish.
4.Doesn't matter-if you choose a sight with more traffic than give them some hiding places to get out sight as they need.
5.yep a 150 gallon would grow one-three out for at least a year until they start to mature.

Alright, my dad and I or a close construction worker will be building the tank so its going to be top notch. What kind of filters? Would 2 FX5s work? would I need more? How would I cycle the tank?I am only looking for 2 rays, maybe only 1 depending on how things work out, I always under stock A LOT when it comes to this stuff to provide the best life I can.

What would be the minimum foot print for 1 ray? I dont like it being 9feet one way but it will be done if it has too

Figure the ray can get 14 inches disc for a male or larger, I say a 6x2x2 is a great tank to give one ray room, 2 could probably work in a tank that size but myself I like more room for rays. If you think about some of the smaller rays options will be easy for two to fit in that space. Look at marbles, hystrix,
