sold all my tropical fish in one easy step, and somehow timed new additions to the tank later that day....
picked up 2 14 inch yellow bullhead and 2 gar, one 14 inch and one 16 inch. the 2 gar and one bullhead were crammed in a 55 w/ a 15 inch or so pacu, 2 smaller turtles, adult severum that had more scales missing than attached, a small dempsey and i think what was a convict... the other bullhead shared a 55 w/ a 6 inch pacu and no decor at all.. didnt want to ask why the balance was so off but whatever...

heres some pics of the new setup...

from the banks of the maumee river a couple years ago. only thing i got from the walleye run... boiled in a 55 gallon drum for a while, been in the tank for 2 years and still turns the water beer colored in about 2 weeks...

come to think of it its been in the tank 3 years this spring. my pearsi i had chewed the other side of it but no worries.

nice tank! and yes nice wood.. er anyway. love the bull heads, hope mine dont get that big though! think they were caught? i cant imagine they would grow that big in a 55?

thanks for the good words.. im not sure if the bullheads were caught or not. im thinking not because they are the exact same size, shape looks. could have been netted off a nest.
hte bullheads were fighting last nite so probably why they were in seperate 55 tanks. the fights consisted of a few hippo like head butts and that was it. aggression should be ok w/ a 7 foot tank..

this guy is so friendly, always at the front when someone walks by, also the baby changing table is at the end of the tank so he always checks what going on w/ the diaper changes too. his poor little fins spikes, im sure they will heal in no time w/ clean water, they just look so sore.

ha thats funny.. my sun fish are friendly like that.. the bull heads are only social for feedings though. cool fish for sure.

love the new additions.. especially ur gars! i still cant believe the condition they were being kept in?!?! makes me wonder what some people have goin on in their skulls.. but anywho, can we get anymore gar close ups? they both look really nice!

the wifey got a new camera for xmas so any chance to use it is a plus. heres some close ups of the fish. the bigger gar has a bad snout and a gimp pectoral fin, the smaller has a beat up tail. and the bullhead are just bullhead...

nice pics! love those gars..i notice the snout issue in the first pics. when i purchase both of my gars they looked terrible (bad fins/snout ect..) but i saw good potential in them. had to rehome them due to issues, but they are looking great still and are fat happy and btr then ever.. looking in to gettitng some more as soon as i set up a 300.
