I have a 55 gal. that I am going to run through another tanks wet/dry. The problem I have, is it doesnt have a corner overflow. I have a hang-on overflow that I picked up a few years back. Its the type with 2 conainers one inside your tank and one one the back with a j-tube conecting them. I cant figuire out how to get the siphen going? Ive tried everything. The lady at the petstore told me to put an air-line tube through it and suck. Ive tried this and with larger hoses with no success. Can anyone help me get this overflow to work???????????

Get 2 pieces of saran plastic wrap about 5" x 5". Fill up both chambers of your overflow with the tank water about 3/4 high..
Remove your overflow U-tube, fill it with water (submerging in water will do this), while underwater, put the 2 pieces of saran wrap you cut earlier on both ends of the tube. Hold the wrap tightly with your hands. Do not let any air to get into the u-tube
Place the u-tube in the overflow assembly, making sure that both ends are submerged in water and remove the saran plastic wrap.
You're done

You need a length of aquarium tubig(air hose) about 24" long. With the both boxes of your overflow filled, take the air hose and insert it into the u-tube so it is reaching the highest point of the bend. Place the u-tube into the overflow box, now suck all the air out of the u-tube with your mouth, do not let any air reenter the air line, now your siphon is ready to go.
easy way to do it is.. Take off the siphon box inside the tank. And leave the U-tube in the tank and in the outer box. Take any small pump. And and pump the water in the U-tube with the pump.. Then just put the box back on.. And your set to go
