Its been about a month since i got my grammodes pair from Dan at COA and have had no luck with them breeding let alone showing an interest in each other at all. I have changed the decor around along with the lighting and added chase fish for them and have done more water changes than i usually do. I'm starting to feel like I'm wasting my time with them. The not breeding isnt my biggest problem with them its alsi the fact that they are showing no color at all. The male has darker marking and the female is a lil lighter but thats it. They show no dots on the face or any blues on their fins or body. Now its not a bash at Dans fish but the grammodes I got from Rapps is just a stunner and is much smaller than my pair. He has everything i wish the pair would have. I feel like o should throw him in the 75 and focus more on him and maybe add a beani or freddy in with him. He is in 46 bowfront with a istlanum now and they are fine. Maybe I'm feeling like this because My wife and I just found out we are expecting our first child and I'm going to downsize and give the 46 to my mother inlaw. I'm not setting up my 150 until we buy a house so the 75 is my main focus until then, plus its all i have room for on the second floor apartment. I know a few people told me to expect my pair to lose their bond during shipping but i didnt think it would happen but it looks like it did.

Threw a few pics in of my grammodes i got from rapps. Hes around 3 inches

wow.. he is from rapps?
I would wait another month or two. Give them treats like bloodworms, market shrimp, and krill. If that does not work turn up the temp>.
If nothing works then go on and get a beani. I have a grammodes and beani too. They live together peacefully in a 75g. I will upgrade to a 150 soon, thank god the nandopsis family grow extremely slow lol.

well im ordering either a beani, freddy, or another grammodes from rapps or my wife may suprise me with my bday coming up... Hoping this pair comes through for me. If they do breed then my other fish will have a homes except the beani if i get one he will have his own home in a 20 gallon for a lil while

this pair is very skiddish to were my rapps grammodes is alwasy out and swims to top whenever im near the tank or even in the room

Well, good luck.
I hope your grammodes will breed.
You do not have to buy the beani from rapps. Go to your LFS and ask them to get some beani's. They will get the beani's for you, so you can choose which one and not pay for shipping lol.
Shipping for fish these days are PRICEY:WHOA:

rapps got small guys in and shipping runs about $22 for me through him but it wouldnt hurt to call my buddy at the lfs to see if he can get some in

I don't know anything about grammodes, but are they even large/old enough to spawn? Also, it looks pretty thin. The grammodes I have seen are much bigger, more robust fish. I would concentrate on feeding them and putting some size and weight on them. A happy, healthy fish will spawn when it's ready.

You've only had these fish for what, a few months? Patience is key. When I buy fish with the intention of spawning, I usually expect to wait at least a year or more for them to settle in, grow, and pair off naturally. Maybe that sounds ridiculous to some people, but isn't that the whole point of fishkeeping? Otherwise, what's there to enjoy about the hobby?

How about a picture of the pair? Also, this may be a stupid question but when you ordered them, did you ask for a pair, A male and female? Or did you ask for a proven mated pair? A friend of mine asked for a pair of Bartoni, and he got a male and female but not a proven mated pair. He also has not gotten his Bartoni to spawn. Or even to hang out. Also Grammodes dont even begin to spawn till around the 5-6" mark. You didnt tell us how big yours are, but if they are around 4", I can almost guarantee they haven't even spawned before.

the fish in the pics isnt part of the pair its my other grammodes. My pair is from Dan and spawned for him before i got them

5 inch male , 4 inch female, have another thread with some pics but it takes time to get pics of them so i will have to try tomar. If you check my thread history u will see pics and a video
