I was thinking of getting some p. bass, however I don't know what species to start with. Also what method are you using to get a constant supply of live feeders without buying feeders from the lfs. Thanks for your help.

FIRST- dont feed live feeders. try and get them one pellets or nothing live. due to diseses and other stuff that can harm the bass.
SECOND- I started with a mono, it doesnt rfeally matter what breed, but me if ur unexperianced with cichla then dont get a high $ one.
THIRD- Its FUN, if you decide to do the cichla, make sure your tank will be big enough. 210 gallons +is my opinion. I have a 300 gallon with 3 cichla in it and they seen to love it.

But just do a little researh and the rest is happiness;)

Agree... Do lots of research on this site and n google. I read and asked plenty of questions for a good 8 months before I bought my first cichla. It's not rocket science but you want to know what your doing. And some lfs give had advice on keeping cichla.
And yes plain ol' monos and orinos are prob best to start.
