In a Smuckers jar.
Ive been try to get him to eat pellets for about 5 maybe 6 days now. I was wondering how long can a jar of this size can last without eatting? Should I try giving him pellets everyday to see if he will eat it or should I space out the amount of times I try to feed him?

I would try other things as well..like freeze dried shrimp and arowana floating pellets, krill, shrimp, are you trying to get him off feeders or is he new and still stressing in his new home.. 6 days is not anything to worry about with a 16 inch arow.. they can go many many weeks..as long as they were healthy before they decided to fast..

He is currently only eatting shrimp and nothing else. I trying to get him to eat pellets as his main diet with shrimp or krill every so often. He is not new to his new home as I had him for a few months now.
Thanks

I see he is just stubborn and likes what he likes ... but they can go a long time.. i would continue to try other things while he is fasting.. there just may be something he will take a liking too ..good luck.. if for some reason you must go back to shrimp again buy some vitamin supplement that you can dip the shriimp in..also you may try fresh shrimp and stuff it with a pellet. Main thing is to keep trying,

I would try feeding the pellets every other day, make sure you remove the uneaten food after.

jars are pretty stubborn and may not accept pellets at all
and the more you starve them the more skittish they get
GL with your jar

either try Hikari Cichlid Gold large pellet or Tetra Jumbomin (the Jumbomin will sink after some time so make sure you have bottom feeders if you use this). throw in a pellet everyday and after a few minutes take it out you have to get the aro used to eating food from the surface. after a couple of days the aro should grab the pellet and then spit it out don't worry you have to keep this up and eventually it will eat it. a couple of days to a couple of weeks of starvation for a 16" aro is nothing to be worried about.I've seen and had large aros starve for 2 months and then all of a sudden start eating again.
