About a year ago, I saw a four-inch writhing creature holding its own in the current at my LFS. It looked anorexic by shape, because it had a fat tail and huge jaws, but a thin neck which gradually widened into a body. However, it was not near death's bed, as it's body showed no surface signs of starvation. It did not seem responsive, it only wiggled rhythmically, making an 's' shape as it undulated in one place. It's head was a distinct triangle. It was not even as thick as a pencil. Gray color. Eating bloodworms at the time. Any guesses?

could have been a species of snake head but not a true one. They had rainbow snake heads , listed as the sientific name at my lfs , they where still illegal but only max out at 6 inches in the wild , they are still cool but not the real thing , ive seen these seeping through quite a bit actually..

Huh? What do you mean "not the real thing"? Rainbow snakeheads are just as much a real snakehead as any other Channa species.

meaning they are a smaller species . You dont see any giant snake heads or blue snake heads crossing over .... thats all i meant by that. They still are a channa but compared to the "real" snakeheads , meaning bite your f ing finger off , its not.

Hmm.

I think you have it. This guy moves the exact same way and similar head-to-body proportions. If he were starved halfway to death, I could see it.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8w77huTNn44&feature=related

exactly, these i have seen being sold under their sientific name , and i made the owner aware they are illegal . He thought i was just some bratty kid and made me leave. Next week i came back in and he apologized, and he had removed them from the store into his house lol. They where selling for 60 bucks! he gave me 2 free ones for the warning though.

I was raising them up with my jags , the jags where 1 inch to 2 inches and there was 3 of them. The snakes where 3 inches and sadly to say they where killed :( . If it was a different species of snake it would have demolished the jags , and thats what i intended on happening if anything did at all. I didnt have any other tanks at the time , and figured i would watch closely. Didnt work out...

I saw it again today! It was the glass eel I just bought on impulse. Deja vu hit me and I had to buy it, even just to find out what it was. How ironic that I mention the oddball thing I saw at least a year ago, and another turns up this very day! I'm going to grow him out and hopefully cohab him with my Oscar.
