Starving cichla?

I'm going away next weekend for a couple days... Leaving Friday night and coming back Monday morning afternoon. Should I have a friend over to feed my bass? Or is okay to starve for about two days? I just don't trust people taking care of my own fish. I don't want any disease or any accidents happen when I'm gone. Is it just a better idea to Starve them for a day rather than have a friend come over and feed them and leave left over food in the tank and cause bad water conditions?
My bass are large so I think a couple days won't hurt?
What do you guys think?

I left for colorado for 5 days, and none of my fish were fed during that time. I left feeders in with my pickerels and now I wish I hadn't because one died before they had a chance to eat it and developed one hell of a fungal infection in the tank which quickly spread to my fish. Moral of the story is if you aren't there to observe the fish yourself don't worry about feeding them for a couple days.
