OK so I was at a LFS the other day and there is a little baby fahaka that is way bad off

what is a girl to do-
I explained that he can either send the baby home with me or she will be dead with in a week.... he wanted to know how I knew it was a girl..... OK?? I explained they are so pretty they must be girls...

so he was resistant at first so I asked him what he is feeding her? pond snails lots of them every day but she is not getting any fatter.... I asked if he had dewormed her? he was shocked that you deworm puffers and wanted to know what I use.... any way long story short yes she is at my house.... What am I going to do with 2 Fahaka puffers :WHOA: no they are not in the same tank

the baby was so skinny you could see her back bone and jaw bones

at first she did not eat anything this made worming hard.... she will not eat shrimp or clams (the best way to get weight on her) but she is now eating bloodworms (frozen) and looking better and swimming around much better and dancing in my face any time I am at my desk..... :headbang2

What should I do now, the LFS wants her back when I get her up and better....
what would you do?

I would tell the LFS that they owed you a big, big favor.

This fish arent expensive wholesale wise, but they stand to gain a considerable amount of money at your expense.

If they want the fish back, you better get store credit in my mind.

Is there a possibility that you can keep the little fella?

In the fish world, boys are normally the pretty and flamboyantly colored of the two sexes. In the case of fahakas, you can't even sex adults that well.

Good job on the rehab. I would return the fish and ask for nothing in return. Make a point that you are asking for nothing. If it is a good business then they will cater to you in the future. Having a good relationship with a LFS has been worth a lot to me.

Update- the little guy is still with me growing like a weed now and just started him on some additional food, clam, crawfish, big snails he is learning how to stalk it is so cute.

His name is Shrek and he and Phiona will share a 240 gallon tank with a divider of cource. I did go back to the LFS they mostly do Salt and they were thinking about making him brak then salt.... I explained they are the few that are fresh their entire life... and he is going to need a lot of food to keep up with what I have done.... when I gave them the feeding habits clams on the 1/2 shell, crab leg in the 1/2 shell, snails, blood worms both frozen and live, night crawler chunks, and once a week an owster and a large prawn... he was not impressed

So does that mean they still want the Fahaka back? IF thats the case i wouldn't let them have it... unless they are sure they can keep up with the same dietary needs at the shop and once its sold... which i honestly doubt will happen...

Anyway, i say good job getting your little fella back to good health... got any pics of your puffer?

^ So what are you plans then?
