hey ya'll i have a cichla i think monoculos(still a youngster) and i was wonderin can i starve him on to pellets?

Theres an article in the begining of this forum that tells you how to get pbass off of live food. IMO I wouldn't starve them. I tried that once and had one eat a fish the size of him which he choke to death on. It's best to give them feeders till their about 6-7" to get their weight up then try shrimp. Hope this helps.

ya mine eat shrimp now and there 12". i wanna get them on pellots but no luck so far, i havnt starved them or anything, its kinda good for me bc that way the pellots get to bottom for my ray and del to eat

Try flakes ;) And Azoo Sticks worked for me after a couple weeks And I was still feeding live the whole time ;)

I feed African or american cichlids as much as possible. I am no longer choosy ..

At what size did you start trying to get your PBass to start feeding on something other than live feeders. I've been offered 2 but I don't wanna feed them live other than worms, during the summer months that is. Hmmm.... thought has anyone tried feeding their PBass live Crickets?

Mine never took to crickets well ;)

i didn't really have problems converting my pbass's (3-5in) from live to pellets. from my experience, they usually have a pretty large appetite. after a day or two of no food, mine jumped on the frist few pellets as they hit the water.

mine ate freeze dried krill occasionally.
then he eventually started eating shrimp when i decreased the amount of feeders i fed him.
and now he eats almost anything.

If it's over 4" it should be ok to starve for a few days. However I tried starving some 2" occells for 2 days and one of them just dropped dead. I feed all my baby bass frozen bloodworm now with feeders once a month.
