Just wondering - if you move to a different state, and already own your fish, but they are restricted in the state you are moving to, is it still illegal to have them there? Thanks

Now here's another question - are you likely to get into trouble for having them? I mean, obviously having a tank with a piranha or stingrays in it is a bit different than a huge pond with arapaimas, so if you did have FW Rays, piarnhas, tigerfish, etc how likely is it you would get in trouble?

Although if you wanted to keep rays in FL (main reason I was asking), you could start breeding them and selling them - they'd probably gladly give you a permit for that. I have no intention to keep tigerfish, grows too slow for my liking. Piranhas are fun, but I could do without them.

Read some of my old threads. I got busted for that exact reason. When I moved from WA to MS I didn't check MS laws and some of the fish I relocated were illegal in the state. A member narc'd on me to F&W and my hatchery was raided. I ultimately was acquitted of charges but, it still cost me thousands in fish losses, thousands in legal fees, and thousands in business losses. This event is what drove me to promulgating the Restricted Species Lists in the Marketplace forum.

Dang, that sucks Oddball! Yeah, I guess it's DEFINITELY much safer to just keep what's legal. Hope you got the member banned ;)
