Im a state employee, and because of them i go on fishing trips all the time!

CalVet Announces Recruitment Job Fairs at
Redding and Fresno Veterans Homes

The California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet) will hold recruitment Job Fairs in Redding and Fresno to fill hundreds of positions at the new Veterans Homes of California in those cities. The Job Fairs will be held first in Fresno on January 23rd.The veterans homes will be hosting the Job Fairs and they are located at:

The Job Fairs will begin at 8 am and continue to 4 pm to give as many interested people as possible chance to participate. At the Job Fairs, CalVet will be providing workshops on “How to Get a State Job” and give instruction on navigating the State of California Job site and the application and hiring processes. Computer kiosk will be available for prospective employees to fill out the state application on-line. CalVet Human Resources staff will be available to assist potential applicants.

To open the homes CalVet must fill positions in nursing, medicine, pharmacy, mental health, social services, speech and physical therapy, dietetics and food service, sanitation and janitorial, plant operations, grounds keeping, security, accounting, human resources, medical billing, contracts, clerical, health care analysis and IT management. Think anybody with a entry job putting That much in a 401k?
12 days of yearly paid Vacation a year to start.
Plus sick days and a couple other comp days a year.

Depending on your skills or education there are jobs paying 10000k a month.

In addition to a retirement plan, state workers can also fund 401K and 457 deferred compensation plans (pretax) if they choose to.
 
I think he was referring to our very generous pension plan as part of the reason the state is going broke.
They have made some revisions of the pensions, but still, for us workers they are amongst the best in the country.

Eventually the state will get rid of pensions for new employees and go to near worthless 401ks.
So get in on the pension plan now!
