Stealth Heaters and Rays

Picked me up some Stealth heaters and was wondering, since they are
encased in the thermal plastic do I still need some kind of heater
guard with them?
They seem to be much cooler to the touch than glass.

according to many who I've asked, stealth is the best in-tank heater for rays.

That's good to hear. I have 4 x 250w ones in my tank that I just happened to get by accident without knowing that.
