stealth or jager?

Not sure about Jager, but I've had 3 Stealths fail on me, each under a year old.

They stick off, which is a lot better then on, like the cheap heaters I used years ago.

I do have a 150W stealth in my 55 that's been running a year and a half without issue.

I read just about every thread regarding heaters on this web site. I had problems with two heaters sticking on, on two different tanks. I have back-ups for redundancy. I decided to go with Stealth. Today, I picked up two 250w stealths from petsmart on their online store matching: $20.99 each on their web site, $36.99 in the brick-n-morter.
It looks like I am going to really have to keep an eye on the thermometers. It will take a little getting used to not having a "on" light.

I have both and really can't complain about either. The only advantage the Jager has is that it lights up when it's on (I suppose that could be a disadvantage too). The stealths seem to be a bit tougher.

Either way you go, you'll get a good heater.

:iagree: about the light. It's makes it much esier especially when running multiple heaters on a tank. Since heaters are not really calibrated exactly to the temp it says on the control knob I like the light. And honestly the Jager's to me seem more effiecient. I had a tank that I could not get up to temp with one of my stealths so I reaplced with a Jager of the same wattage and it was fine. Maybe it just was that heater but kinda made an impression on me. Still think both are good heaters though.

my jager broke, i replaced it with the stealth. works great. no complaints

I have 2 stealths and they are working great keeping the temp right at 78 degrees all the time.
