I was wondering if it is possible and if anyone has tried it? It would seem as though it would be fine if the sillacon is left untouched.

Any thoughts?

hmm, I'd have to say this sounds like a terrible idea. This is on top of the whole "why would you want to in the first place?" thing.

I have calcium deposites along with a white layer along all four sides of my tank. I tried vinegar as many prescribed (Heinz Vinegar), but no luck. I will try lemon juice today, but it seems like i might have to resort to CLR as i have no plan on stocking for another two weeks.

I am planning on creating a freshwater cichlid tank that resembles a salt water reef. The tank's previous owner gave me tons of assessories for the 50 gallon tank including a powerhead, air pump, fluval 204, another filter that hangs off the side, aquarium salt, cichlid food, and plants (dont plan on using). He had the tank setup for cichlids as well, but claimed that it was taking up too much room (Judging by his garage, it did look VERY cramped).

Days 1-4, i plan on cleaning the tank and washing the chemicals out
Days 5-7, i plan on running the water through the system (fluval 204) to get the bacteria producing, and adding "start-up" bacteria.
Days 8-10, i plan on adding the substrate (most likely play sand or pool filter sand)
Days 11-13, i plan on running the tank through the system some more so everything stabilizes
Days 14, i can go get my water examined for nitrates and nitrites

Anyone have any ideas on how better clean my fish tank, it stats Tempered glass on the bottom. Also, how does my schedule look?
