I had noticed my Steindachneri pair acting frisky over the past week. Today she appears to be holding eggs! I am fairly excited as these are the first fish I have had breed in a long time. :D

How long before the fry hatch?

I am debating setting up another tank and moving her. I have heard that Steindachneri breed very prolificly, so maybe I will set up a tank for the pair if they continue to breed.

Thanks for any advice!

I wouldn't do just the pair in a breeding tank, track down more females. These geo's are advanced mouthbrooders, and like mbuna with the same breeding technique, males can be rough on females when he has no distraction. They are usually kept in harems of 1m and 3-4 females when kept alone. The other fish in the community should help keep the male busy.

I may just remove the female then and see if I can raise up some little Hump-heads. :)
