hey fellow discus and fish keepers. I will be getting a group of ten 2.5” juvie stendker discus from the one and only discus Hans. Group will include 4 blue snakeskins, 4 silver pigeons and 2 red turquoise. My original plan was to just do a red Turks and blue snakeskins to eventually add them with my wilds in my main display tank, once they were grown out to jumbo size in a few years, to keep things looking for natural, but I just couldn’t pass up on getting the silver pigeons. Perhaps adding them in the wild discus show tank will look pretty awesome. We will see, have a few years to figure it out. Keeping my fingers crossed that I’ll get some pairs out the silvers and blue snakes for breeding. Anyways just a pic of the tank they will be growing out in for a while. Will upgrade them to a 75 in the near future but this 55 will be plenty good for now.

Fish will be grown out in some nice, natural, high mineral well water. I think they will do great in it. Ph around 7.5, kh 18, gh not sure yet but pretty high since it’s well water.

Feeding will consist of frozen Beefheart Mix and some other good mini pellets food I have along with repashy superfoods.

Will post pics and a video once fish are settled in. They arrive Thursday. Thanks for looking.

Here’s some pics of the discus. Ended up moving them to my 29 gallon since the 55 was a little too big for them at this size. They’re feeling much for comfortable in a smaller tank. Eating like pigs and seeming much happier in the smaller tank. Will move them to the 55 gallon once they get a few inches bigger. This will make it easier to do daily 100 percent water changes anyways.

Is it hard water???
It’s well water so kind of hard but not as hard as most others peoples in the cities and such. We are blessed to have some pretty good water where we live. Gh is around 12-14 ph around 7.6. Domestic Discus grow faster and better in harder water. Great minerals in this well water. Tds is only like 60. They seem to be thriving so far. Knock on wood. Love their water changes after just one week of having them and are constantly looking for food. Going to need to get a new water changing hose so I’m not sharing the same
Hose for water changes that I use on my other tanks so I don’t chance anything bad getting passed to the discus.
