Some may have already seen, but I'm setting up a 29g nano reef in a Oceanic Biocube. Since it's a long process from start to finish, my girlfriend and I have decided to document all of it on livejournal. I'll be updating it every time we add/change something to the tank, so check back in roughly once a week I'd say. Hope you all enjoy, if not the style of tank I'm building, the edjucational side.

Have Fun!

I have a similar set-up. I am also new to the salt side of things. I have an Aquapod 24 gal. I have added 20lbs of live sand and 5lbs of live rock. I also have a heater and the same circulating pump. I am having trouble with the temp of the tank. I have taken the pump out and it is still at 83dgressF. What can I do to lower the temp?

Its probably the lights on the tank. Aquapods are enclosed tops right?? if so this does not allow for to much heat to leave the confines of the tank. Yes the evap level will increase but having some air getting to water and some good surface aggitation will help your case.

could also look into seeing if they make a chiller for that tank. I know redsea makes one for there nano but unsure of other brands.

i have one of those inclosed tanks with a lid the lights are crap and the fans are noisy and they not allow heat to escape so i'm thinking of taking my top off ( wow wow calm down ) the tank and buying some new lighting and clear plastic with holes in for the cover.

are you getting more rock?

There's the same amount of rock in the back compartment of the tank also. But yea, I left a little room for growth as a lot of corals come on some sort of rock usually. I'm going to be building the backside up more so the rock is more of a ramp.
