So a couple weeks ago I picked up a Hujeta Gar/ fresh water baracuda/ rocket gar, whatever they happen to be called in your area. I have had them before and they are really cool fish. This one however does something none of my other ones have ever done...It eats cichlid sticks. I have never had a hujeta even take a glance at any food that wasn't a live fish, but this one tears into a floating stick just like it does a fish. I have even had it take them out of my fingers. This is one really cool fish! It definitely loves the feeders, but being able to supplement with dry food is nice.

I'll add some pictures later.

okay, here is a quick vid I took. He didn't get a good enough strike to pull it from my fingers, but slammed it again as soon as I dropped it.

My hujeta ate carnisticks until it was eaten by my juruense. I found it a relatively easy fish to break myself.

I've never been into the hujetas but good for you that yours eats pellets.Maybe the feeders should be demoted to supplement/treat?

Gars are so cool, especially this species.

I did have a longnose gar that would eat the round floating cichlid pellets. That was funny to see. Hopefully after I move I can grab a gar or two, I think they are the most interesting fish to watch when eating.
