State of chaos
I just moved my Peacock Eel into his new tank, and after I'd set it up and put him in there, I noticed that there were two little stick-on thermometers in the tank. Like, in the tank, under the water. (the tank used to have a Python in it)
It's a 20 gallon tank, so I really am not all that worried about the presence of the thermometers, but I figured I'd check here... will the Eel be okay in there?

I bleached and hot water treated the whole tank last week, so I thought all hangers-on would be gone. Unfortunately, if I had to do that again, I have nowhere to put the Eel.

Well since your Eel is already in the tank and you have nowhere else to put it, the best thing you can do is watch and wait. If you cleaned the tank fairly well and did a chemical clean as well you should be alright, but like i said just keep an eye on your little buddy if he doesn't look to be doing well a filled up bathtub can always hold a fish for a night until you take it back to the store in the morning! Best of luck with your new friend

Yeah, I'll definitely keep an eye on him. Unfortunately if he goes south, I cant just bring him back. He isnt new, I actually found him all dried up and half dead on the floor under a tank at the pet store a few months ago, and put him in a smaller tank until I could shuffle my Python around and give him her old 20g.

Good idea, props on saving a life though! most people wouldn't do that for a fish. good luck with everything, just ask if you have any eel questions
Current owner of 2 fire eels, owned 3 spiny eels in the past

long as the coating over the temperature area is still intact doubt you'll have issues.. i'de take a razor blade and remove it though just to be safe. make sure you get it between the adhesive and I assume the black back of the thermometer and you should be fine... doubt it'll take more then 5 minutes to do.
