I have a question (might seem silly but I thought I would ask the professionals:)) I have several thin sheets of glass at my disposal. They are about 1/4 inch in thickness. Is it theoretically possible to seal these sheets together to create something thicker and stronger (about 3/4 or 1 inch?)

This is my second big plywood tank build. The last one was 7 feet x 2ftx 2ft and build with an acrylic front. Due to improper handling (on my part:() It was destroyed when I moved.

Also I would like to add that they are window panes. I have a pretty awesome idea of what I would like to do if this works.

Please help me DYI professionals, your my only hope!

It can be done but it is going to take some practice to be able to do it without putting air bubbles between the panes. Also it is a one shot deal. If you take the panes apart after you start to put them together, the air bubbles will be insane.

You have to use a perfectly clear or nearly clear bonding agent that won't yellow with time. Clear silicone will work, as well as Loctite Stick-N-Seal. Your bonding agent has to be in one airless blob, preferably in the center. You have to use the top piece of glass to spread out the adhesive. If you do it before adding the glass, it will be nothing but air bubbles.

the best way is to spray clear coat or use fiber glass raisen to the glass then put the other piece of glass on (make sure the glass is on a flat level surface). then use a dry paint roller and roll out the air bubble, and let the glass set in the sun for 20 to 30 min then repeat the sets to the thickness of glass you want.

oh!!!!!! make sure you cut the l x w of the glass you want when its thick you have to cut it with a wet tile blade

Fiberglass resin will bond the glass really well, however it has a distinctive booger brown or booger green color to it.

Eloquent CHOMPERS, Eloquent.

And there is bound to be some distortion, specially with multiple layers.

Thanks for all your responses. Im gonna get all the materials together in the next few weeks. I will try it with some sample pieces. I can have a few goes at this because I have LOTS of windows....

They replaced all the windows in my victorian style apartment (6 units total= a ton of windows) Then they decided to place ALL of the windows in the basement in MY storage room. They have been in there since fall. At first I was mad, and asked them to take them out. But then I figured when life gives you lemons....
