Whats up everyone. I have have a quick question. I have alot of stones and some plants in my tank. I was wondering if I could take fallen limbs from trees and put them the the tank? I know tannin acid isn't a bad thing for the fish.

Has anyone done this with success? I would like to get the small branches and make a "fallen tree" look in my tank.

Any ideas?

You have to make sure the tree or branches are hard wood. If it soft then you are sol cuz it will rot fast.

other then that your idea sounds solid. Just make sure you prep the wood.

make sure the wood is dead and not green, after that you can boil the sticks in water or just let them sit in a bucket for a week or two, making water changes until the water is pretty clear

I have gone a step further with the soaking. Use about a tablespoon of salt. I use ordinary table salt and then add hot water. I change the water everyday for a week. Works great.
