I have been pondering what scenario would favor higher growth rates:

a) if the rays were kept at temp of 72 - 77. at this range my FLOWER rays dont want to eat as much but as the temp is colder their systems are a little slower and they may be able to assimilate more of what they have eaten. they still eat plenty but once their full, thats it, and they really wont eat for the rest of the day.

or

b) if the rays were kept at a temp of 80 - 83. at this temp my MOTOROS eat ALOT. they will eat 6 times a day if i feed them that many times. at this temp their metabolisms are alot faster. is this extra food just being pooped out of are they actually using it for growth.

Being as both my tanks have different species of rays with different attitudes for feeding i cant really tell. does anyone out there have any experience with beter growth at better temps? does anyone know of any published works with this info? My flowers are such wooses when it comes to feeding time. they both eat OK and are "fat" but they are just no where nearly as greagarious as te motoros. im wondering if the temps have anything to do with it? i havnt bumped the flowers temps up though after having read the thread about pathogens and bacteria/parasites multiplying much faster at higher temps. i dont have a UV on the flower tank but i do n the ray tank.

great ? and good write up! im assumming as long as its digested they are getting growth....and I would bump the temp up on your flowers
