Still have some serious glass/acrylic thickness concerns, assistance please...

I'm looking for some experienced opinions on acrylic vs glass, and thickness requirements to play it safe. So far I have not received much in the way of feedback, and I'm getting close to the build kickoff.

I posted there but might as well do it here also. 3/4" minimum on 48" tall. 1" to be safe. if you go with glass. I'm not a big fan of Acrylic due to the ease at which it scratches and glass sticks to silicone and wood where as you will need to prep acrylic with 2part epoxy to get silicone to stick to it.

If that were true then why are the 4' tall aquariums in the public facilities all using 1" or thicker acyrlic?

I would contact somebody who builds custom aquariums for a living for advice. Is there anybody in your area you could call.

My 24" tall 300 gallon acrylic tank is 3/4" thick and I couldn't imagine doubling the height while keeping the 3/4" thickness.

PS. Acrylic only scratches if you are careless.

im referring to glass. i have no exp in acrylic
