I took a much better side shot of my GT today. My measurement comes in between 2.75-3" (head-tail length). My guess is still that it's a male, but thought this view might help clear things up.

Still going to say female. The body shape is typical of the female Gold saums. As for the colour, it just appears to be a good looking specimin. The black below the eye is also a trait of females, which tends to disappear (or at least fade) in males around this size.

What size is the tank and what tankmates? Just curious. Not relevant to sexing.

He/she shares a 55G w/ a Bristlenose Pleco. As for the black mark below the eyes, it comes and goes (sometimes it's dark, sometimes I can't even see it). He/she was much more elongated when I bought it March 10th (see pic below). I am definitely guilty of overfeeding him/her (which might explain its husky shape).

Granted the shape has changed, but even in the above picture, the belly is still rounded. Still saying female. 95% sure.

You have a very pretty girl lucky grab.

Thanks for the input guys. Just to be sure, here is one more I took today (3" exactly). I find it hard to believe that females can grow 1.5" in a months time (even without breeding). Also, I have searched the net for days and been unable to find a female with this type of color. Is it possible that the nuchal hump/fin extensions begin to develop at 3.5-4"+?
