i was wondering if it would b a good ideal to put stingrays and catfish in the 800 gallon tank i started to build i heard it they dont make good tank mates but wanna know from someone with more experience tell me what u think dont want to spend alot of money on fish to find out they dont get along

Depends on what type of catfish and ray, and also on the individual fish. Some get along, some don't.

Most importantly, size bought, size of adult, and growth rate will be factors.

General rule is to make sure the fish can't fit in the other fish's mouth of course. Starting with a baby catfish and baby ray, the catfish might outgrow the ray but if not a faster growing, it is probably okay.

Ideal? Probably not. But it can work very well if the right conditions are met.

I think ir comes down to the individual fish. However I have not had them.
