my lfs has a marble motoro, he's $60 more than the regular, but he still has a stinger guard, i've never dealt with these, i was told that the guard would eventually fall off. is this true?

stinger gets shed, i would have to say the guard falls off with the stinger, it would make it easier for you to find the stinger, i cant find my Rays shed stingers...
dont worry, it will come off by itself. just dont try to take it off yourself and get stung accidently.
You could also pull it out with a pair of long nose pliers . The cover is a breeding ground for fungus and bacteria because its full of rotten tissue. Its best done in shallow water, while acclimating the ray.

My retic ray has a piece of net on his stinger from when the guy shipped him to me, well the old stinger has fallen off but the new one is still in the net so he is actually has the current stinger in the piece of netting and the old stinger running perpendicular with his tail.
