I have only had Stingie Ray Vaughan for a few days now and I'm already a concerned parent. First the good news: Stingie is eating chopped night crawlers readily 2-3 times daily, my tank is 3+ years cycled with an eheim wet/dry canister plus a power head with filter full of carbon, and seems to be handling the bioload nicely. Stingie Ray seems active and healthy as far as I can see. His tankmates are 3 silver dollars, 2 angels, 2 coy angels, 5 rainbow fish, and a Betta(there's currently a few more, however I am slowly moving them to another community tank).
Now the part that worries me. As you can see in the pictures, Stingie Ray Vaughan had some green fish netting caught on his spine(there when I got him!). It's been there for about 4 or 5 days. Tonight I was able to remove it. My concern is what should I do, if anything, to prevent infection. The tip of his stinger is white, otherwise it looks normal. Please Advise, and enjoy the pics!
Notice the netting caught on his stinger....
I'm sure he feels better now that it's off....
Close up of stinger afterwards....
Tank Shot! (I had to remove over $200 worth of cypress wood decor because the base was made of sharp edged slate, and to give my ray more room)
