First I would like to say hi since this is my first post. My names Joe I've been keeping aquariums for about 7 years I've had salt and freshwater tanks. I'm now looking into freshwater stingrays but can only go as large as 150us gallons. I've read that there are two types of freshwater stingrays that can live in a 150 for there whole life? Is this true because i don't want to get a animal I cant take care of properly. I'm sure yous get this question a lot so I'm sorry LOL

Welcome to MFK. I believe you are referring to Hystrix and Scobina (the second, pretty rare in the US). When it comes to rays the tank footprint matters most ( lengths x width) .....what are the dimensions of your 150? ( If it's just 18" wide I would recommend going for an 180 which is 24" wide)

Thanks for the welcome. Dimensions are going to be 60x24x25. I don't have the 150 now. I have a 90 gallon that is 48x18x25 I'm going to sell this aquarium to get the 150. Also i don't want to fill the 150 to the top. I was thinking half way? Is that ok? Also is the 150 big enough for a pair? Thanks for the help

I would fill it all the way the more water the better. A pair of hystrix would be ok in a 24" wide tank for at least a few years just monitor water params closely and if your Nitrates start getting out of control or the rays just get too big for the tank you will have to decide if you want to upgrade or sell them off

The reason I want to only fill the tank half way is I'm worried about it messing up the floor (I rent) or it falling though the floor LOL. With this type of setup 60x24x25 filled halfway how many water changes will I need to do a week

You can do 1 to 2 a week depending on ur load of fish...

My fish load would be the rays and probably some feeder guppies. Do yous think I can keep my 5 Red Line Torpedo Barbs (Puntius denisonii) in with the stingrays? I'm not sure if they have the same requirements as far as water parameters go? There about 3 inches long right now

A half full 150 is only 75 gallons.

I'd say no.
I thought it had to do more with the footprint of the tank and not the volume of water? I know with more water the less the swing with water parameters will be but i can do 2-3 water changes a week. Also i would have it filled a little more then half way like 90 gallons and two 10 gallon sumps don't know if that really makes a difference. Thanks for all the help guys

Both footprint and gallons matter. I have to agree with Pete, not a good idea at only half full. Rays put out allot more waste than your average freshwater fish, at 90 gallons I doubt 2-3 changes a week would keep up with the nitrates when they are fully grown. In my opinion even a full 150G is pushing the limits for how small a tank even hystrix should be kept in.
