Can stingrays abort their pregnancy?.

I caught my rays mating almost 2 months ago, so in theory i should have seen the baby bump by now, but i didnt. What could have gone wrong? There are 4 males and 7 females in the tank.

This video footage was taken on july 27th.

I know saltwater stingrays have been known to so I'd assume freshwater ones can too. There's a thread that mentions it somewhere.... I'll try to find it for ya bud.

There are a number of things that can happen. Number one it never takes. I’ve for sure had times where I’ve observed mating and just never noticed any pregnancy following. I’ve also had females “go flat.” I see them getting bigger and thicker in the back where you can tell they’re holding and then next time you look it’s gone. They’ve never stopped eating or anything but the larger back is just flat. It is very sudden. There is some dispute as to what actually happens with this. Some say the female absorbs the pups, I think that they just and everything gets “cleaned up.” I’ve only seen this happen early on prior to observing movement. Then there have been a few times I’ve seen very early staged pups aborted dead.

Recently i see whenever the male wants to mate, the female just keep stabbing the male with her tail. What does it tell us?.

That she is like every other female, lol! That’s a typical move for females. They can find the males quite annoying. Here is a very short video of a female I had pop my insistent male.
