Who here has witnessed a stingray showing aggression? Stingrays for the most part
are very laid back fish, they can get harassed to death by aggressive fish half its size.

But they can also use that stinger with deadly accuracy. I remember when i was acclimating my henleii that i got from David W back in april .. i almost got tagged while scooping out the old water from the bag, it hit the plastic container i was holding instead.

When doing WC I try to provoke my ray but it won't ever strike. Once I put the plastic pipe on the tail so the ray couldn't swim and it got really nervous but not agressive.

They are very laid back timid creatures. But dont push your luck , it might feel really trapped one day and might consider striking back. Its very fast, when my Henleii struck me , i only realized it AFTER i happened. All i know is that the ray moved and that something hit the container..

The pipe is more than 20" long, longer than his tail.

Yeah, I read and heard about all sort of long term damage and deaths from the sting. I wonder how different it is from species to species. I don't know what species mine is but is definitely not an agressive one.

i am glad i dont own a ray with that temperament. I put my hand near rays when doing maintenance but i never take my eye off it. Rather be on the safe side i figure.
