Hello everybody I have a 400 gallon tank and have one motoro FWS thats about 16'' to 18'' across and his tankmate is a farely large silver arowana. HE hasnt showed any signs of aggresion to the arowana which im not surprised about but about three days ago i got two black diamond stingrays to also pair with him. They acclimated fine and the first two days every thing was fine i had them eating they were fine after the first water change on the second day, but when i got home from work today both of the black diamonds were cupping but were still alive with large sucker marks from the larger motoro. Any tips on anything to help me out. As i am writing this and do routine checks on the one thaty was more beat up it sadly passed away.

How big is the BD ray? Male or female?
If you don’t have another tank to remove the remaining BD ray to, I would suggest dividing a section off, or float a container w holes for water to flow thru to house it, to let it have time to heal.

I forgot to add in my original post that I had a second BD ray that was a female pretty much the same size as the other. I believe they started to try and breed I don’t really k ow I didn’t see any of the actual aggression I just saw the aftermath when I got home from work. The female passed away last night after separation. The male is still alive and is about 13 inches. The motoro is a female aswell but it is much larger around 18 inches in diameter and she doesn’t have any bite marks or signs of stress on her. Thank you for the help.
I had an 18” marbled motoro hybrid female. She was a bully. My other 3 rays were 14-16” and already established in the tank when I added her. The was ruckus for sure, including some pretty nasty bite marks she inflicted but in my 10’ 500gal they figured it out eventually.

Yeah he has some cupping going on but he is still moving around the tank and isn’t showing any redness on the belly. His breathing is a little fast when I left the house. I do daily water changes of about 30% to try and keep the nitrates down. I’ve heard that adding aquarium salt can help keep the nitrates down easier but I’m hesitant of just adding things without any testimony that it works. I also have the lights completely off in the tank in hopes of keeping the stress low
Salt has no effect on nitrates levels, but is helpful to prevent nitrite poisoning in aquatic animals @ 1tbsp/5gal. It can also be helpful to prompt slime coat regeneration @ 1tbsp/10gal, and wound healing and tissue regeneration by reducing bacterial loads in the water column @ 1 tbsp/2gal, and antiviral @ 1tbsp/gal.
Aquarium salt is an expensive gimmick. Any sodium chloride is useful.
I live in the US and use this salt from Home Depot. $9 for 40#’s. 99.8% pure sodium chloride. Great price & quantity for dosing large tanks economically

Thank you very much I’ll definitely try the salt to help with the rays slime coat and infection. Best of luck.
Just to be safe because Rays are scaleless I would start with 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons to begin with and just watch how they react. Replace the concentration with your daily water changes and keep it constant for seven days. If they are doing fine at 1/5 go to 1tbsp/3gal for another week to 10 days.
I was planning on even doing 1/10 just to make an even less of a change then bump it up to 5 once I see it is working or doesn’t have a negative effect
