Stingray and activated carbon filter

Anybody know if stingrays are compatible with activated carbon in the fitler? My lfs owner told me that within 30 minutes of putting a.c. in his filter, his ray died from it.

Yeah my water is brown from my driftwood but im too scared to put carbon

Did he use pure and rinsed activated carbon?

You can buy it with sulfur, silver, or other various things in it. You need to buy the pure stuff rated for use in drinking water or such applications.

You also need to rinse it first. If you don't rinse and the dust comes off maybe that would hurt a ray.

I'd imagine a store owner would know both of those things.

So normal activated carbon wouldnt hurt a ray?

Un rinsed carbon can kill a ray. If rinsed well then should be ok
