a friend of mine breeds discus and keeps his tanks at 90 degrees, he told me he wouldnt keep them less than 86-87. is it possible to keep stingrays in temps this high???

I would not long term and discus do not need that high of temp. I keep wild ones with my rays at 79-80 degrees and my brother keeps his domestic one at 82.

this guys discus are unbelievable he has about 100 tanks filled with them thats why im listening to him. whats the highest temp rays can go?

Just slowly do a drip system in to a bin or whatever there in for a bit in my opinion till you feel there ready to go into there new tank...90 degrees is pretty hot for a ray...

Discus guys are a unique breed and are not generally people you want to contradict as their methods are always right. Then again I should not stereo type. Stick with the KISS method no matter what you keep and you will enjoy life and fish keeping so much more.

I spent a serious ammount of time keeping those other flat fish. They do like warmer water but 82 f. should be fine for them. just make sure to keep up with the w/c's and filter maint.

I keep my ray at a 85 degree temperature and discus i think should go fine with this temperature along with a ray. And that is pretty close to 90 already so just leave the bag in the water for a bit so it slowly evens the temp with the tank....
