Have a 300 gallon tank with fresh water stingrays.Sand 1/4 thick! ....feed them twice a day. Would like your input on a great battery operated vacuum?..Is there a electric one (like a canister filter type !!!? or how to make one?...the siphon doesn't work for daily poop pick up and uneaten food ...Have the Eheim Battery Operated Gravel Vacuum.. its o.k. but now its going out ! is this the best ??? or is there something better?...water line is at 23" ...Change the water 25% twice a week.........Thanks for your help :nilly::nilly::nilly::nilly::nilly::nilly:...............HABIT..............

your best bet is to thin out the sand and let the rays take care of the rest...

1/4 for sand is too thick for me. Should consider about the maintenance and the potential of poisonous Sulfide gas if not attended well.

ever try a net? i use a long handle aquarium net with non-fine meshing so i can scoop poop/food and the sand falls through.
