Stingray Attacking

Hi All,

does anybody have any videos of a stingray attacking with its tail? I've never actually seen it? I've searched on youtube but couldnt find alot?

They just don't do it. They are a fish that will turn and run and if you are close to get hit with the tail then so be it. They don't use it like a scorpion would.

The one i saw took place on a reef off the coast of zimbabwe - search youtube. I own an Orb ray and he is a pussycat, like ^ said they'd rather run.

Yes I know, my rays are very shy also, I was more thinking in the wild I.E a stingray attacking another fish?

i had a video of my hystrix female trying to stab the males eyes, as he was trying to bite her. They will do it again and i will remember to upload it next time.

My females will try sting my male like a scorpion when they aren't ready to mate.

If they are attacking a fish its most likely to eat it and they don't sting them for that. A ray cupping a fish is a cool sight.

More people get hurt by a stingray in the aquarium by just having thier hands brush up on the stinger such as cleaning...havent heard to many people on here intentionally get stung by thier ray.
