Hi guys! I think it would be interesting to know what kind of behaviours rays produce in the aquarium setting. This would be great for budding enthusiasts such as myself in identifying certain behaviours. Hope you guys can share too! Here's what i have observed so far with mine:

-riding up tank walls to the surface.
Trying to escape??

-keeping still and lifting, somewhat airing, of both sides posterior flaps or just one side.
Why???

-when letting out a big dump, lift medially with disc cupped downwards and sweeping away stool.

-flapping and keeping still.
Frightened and trying to hide under imaginary sand?? (Barebottomed)

-community interactions. ignores tankmate (arowana) totally. Its glass of care towards the tankmate is empty. -_-!

-uses anterior edges to "pounce" on meals such as worms and ghost shrimp.

The "lifting" behavior iir is to appear bigger to ward of potential enemies/aggressors. My rays did this alot when they first met my big gar.. I haven't seen this behavior in monthes now. riding up the tank walls ect has always been a past-time for my big female. and I think something she does out of boredom, she also does this when she's most active so may just be she's in to small of an area to "actively" hunt.

My 3 rays each act differently. Over time you will come to know them and their activities. When something is wrong with a particular ray, you will know it.

One usually stays buried near/under the driftwood, one likes to hang out in the back corner and along the front of the tank, and the 3rd goes everywhere in the tank.
