Hi stingray owners !

I have an LFS near me that I could potentially supply with rays. I am curious what sort of recomendations some of you breeders have? I either want to breed Leos or Hystrix.

My plan is just buy a male and female of either species put them in a 10x4x3 tank and let the magic happen. And I have 2 75 gallons tied into the same system for the pups. I guess my main question is.... Will rays breed with other fish around? As long as they are not aggressive fish? Because if they will not breed with other fish may have to rethink the stock on my large tank.

I know my post is rather vague just looking for a couple pointers will figure it out on my own as I go. But if you have any warnings let me know. Thanks a lot guys hopefully you hear more from me soon !

It can take 2-5 years for rays to mature

Most people will go with a higher ratio of females to males either 2-1 or 3-1 because the males get quite aggresive during breeding.

It will be very difficult to turn any profit given the amount of food rays consume, not to mention when they are carrying pups :)

If your going to do it do it because you have a passion for rays and you won't pull your hair out over the money part.

Rays don't seem to be bothered by tank mates as long as they are suitable to begin with

Good Luck ! :)

Not doing for a profit that is just how I know I can get rid of them when needed... I always wanted to keep rays and I thought this sounded like fun.
