Hey guys!
I've been absolutely fascinated with stingrays for a while now so I've been reading up on them. Given how much waste they produce and how large most of them grow (particularly the leopoldi and motoro species), it makes sense how they would need a large body of water. I'm still gathering info so it probably won't be a purchase anytime soon. I would also have to save up some more money to get 4-5 rays and build the tank, filtration etc. ?
If I were to do 4 or 5 individuals of ONE of these species what sort of footprint do you think would be comfortable for them - probably not the minimum as I believe they do better with a bit more space? Would a 3m x 1.5 m x 1.2m (10ft x 5ft x 4ft) be okay? larger?
Also building a pond/ tank seems a bit more economical than buying a custom made tank and paying them to move and install it so if anybody has made large setups or know any good guides I would appreciate it! Pics are welcome too! I'm not fussy about materials as long as it will last but I would be the most interested in an indoor above ground pond sort of set up with 1 or two largish viewing panels on the side.
