How much food do you go through when feeding your rays? I am trying to figure out cost per week/month for keeping rays.

pound of black worms between my 3 small rays about 5 minutes.... my rays eat about 2 pounds of shrimp/silversides/smelts a month...... figure it really easy it will get expensive black worms are really only good to get them eating when they are fresh in the tank.... earthworms are good but i only feed shrimps smelts silversides and pellets(massivore) im working on clams and mussels and will be ordering about 100 crayfish for Qtank... used to feed them as a treat
So the black worms are good for starters but once you have them eating you would suggest moving on fairly quickly?
yes i brake all my fish from worms(black worms and earth worms) and i start after they have put a lil weight on.. if really skinny i always power feed till they have bulked up then start the starve treatment if mixing krill or shrimp with the other food has not worked.... one thing i did find worked well was putting freeze dried krill in a bowl with the black worms they took pretty quick to krill with that method...
One last quick question, how long do you find it takes to get your rays fattened up? Give or take,
not long i had a few real small pups before that took to black worms after few days then i switched to red wigglers and cut up nightcrawlers... after that it was quick.... then i would starve for a day or 2 and offer other foods till they broke on to them.. i would go for krill offered with worms if they didnt take then starve and only offer krill then feed worms then starve and repeat process after krill i would move to silversides and market shrimps then move on to smelts and pellets
Right now Im feeding 2lbs a shrimp a day. PLus a bag or two of pellets a week. Then I buy one flat of worms a month to feed.
Between my 2 motoros and others in the tank, 2 lbs last about 4-5days. I also feed mussels and earthworms
