I was wondering if there is a way to cut down on water changes to one or maybe one every two weeks with enough filtration on a tank with an arowana and maybe a pair of rays and a catfish.
Im asking bc i am moving out of ca in the future and plane on getting a large tank from 450-800 gal and want to get a tank set up with the best filtration
If i can i would like to over filter

Filtration will have little effect on the number of water changes although good filtration can make the water look clear by removing solids your main concern will be Nitrates

The things to consider will be the tank volume, stock level, and amount of food. No matter how good the filtration you will still end up with the same amount of nitrate in the end if that makes any sense.

You could also consider a Nitrate remover there are several different kinds most are expensive and or complicated. You could also try pothos or other plants to help battle Nitrates.

If your main concern is the time it takes to do water changes I would recommend a 24/7 drip system

Many ways to filter a ray setup, I suggest doing a search and you will see many alternatives. Choose one to best fit your needs and financial situation. Like Johno said it won't remove the need for WC though. You will have to decide whether to do them manually or use a 24/7 drip. Personally I have never had an issue with nitrates, but each setup has there own params and conditions.
