stingray got stung

I was feeding my rays tonite when it suddenly looked like the male was biting the tail of the female. He was actually trying to get loose from her stinger. She freaked out and scooted across the tank, dragging him along. After a few seconds he managed to get loose. She stuck him in the front of his disc, just off center. The stinger didn't go all the way through, but he did bleed a little and an area about the size of a quarter around the point of injection was red. I just checked on him and he is fine. Hopefully he will learn to be more careful.

I hope he learned his lesson... a couple days after I first introduced my motoro rays to my orb., the largest was stung. It left a red sore but was fine within a few days.

i watched my old oscar get stung...dumb oscar + scared new ray= dead oscar...i wonder if rays are immune to the venom of them selves and other rays? as i am sure that this happend more then we know...

He is fine this morning. Wound site on the underside looks better, just red where the stinger went in.

He always goes to the top of the tank to eat, and had just landed back on the bottom when he got stung. I think he happened to land just wrong on top of her tail and spooked her.

Good to hear he is doing well. It is amazing how fast they heal.
