Hi, I bought a pair of Motoro stingrays a few months back, they were about 3-3.5 inches disk size , untill now they were growing normal at about 1/2 inch per month or slightly more but at 7-7.5 inch size now the growth seems to have stalled, is this normal or there is some problem with my fish, they are in a tank 5'x2'x2' and i am feeding them hikari sinking food.

the size of tank plays a big part and you will see the female out grow the male fast now so it will look like one is growing and the other is not

5x2x2 is not very big for these fast growing fish, you also need a much more varied diet. Agreed the female will accelerate away now. Keep an eye on nitrates too and weekly, large, water changes.

You are going to need a new tank, very soon.

well with a 5x2x2 i was expecting it to be sufficient till they grow to a foot long but seems i was wrong, so how big a tank should i build/buy which could be used as their final home? any suggestions ?

@just Toby, yes you are right about the varied diet but the problem is i dont have too many options with my LFS, so do you think it will be a good idea to feed them beefheart , may be earthworms which i can get from a fishing equipment shop close to my house? any other suggestions?

i do a weekly water change of about 15 % should i do more than this?

yes the female has outgrown the male but only just , its not that one is growing faster it seems the growth of both have slowed down quite a bit from what it used to be a few months back

They hit spurts .
After 10" they grow quickest I find . It takes about 2 years to get to 10" with black and motoro type . After that it seems like they are 14" in no time at all.

Don't worry about the growth just enjoy them. They all grow at different rates

I feed my rays tilapia and shrimp from walmart preferably. For some reason they seem to like it better bc i have tried different places. And it goes a long way...meaning they seem to get full from it a little faster at smaller portions in comparison to the shrimp i feed. Ive also recently gone to 1 nightcrawler a week, but id love to actually add pellets to my feeding regimen. But i have to imagine every ray is different. My motoro grew fast but has leveled out a little like others have said. But im far from an experienced ray keeper so listen to what they say:) hope this helps.
