Alright so I am getting a second tank (55) and I was wondering if there was ANY stingray that could fit in there I was thinking maybe a teacup or ocellated... My lfs has tons of them every year around spring time. They sell the tea cups for around $40 and the ocellated for around $80

So I was just wondering if they could live in a 55?

The current plan for the 55 is:

Cockatoo Dwarf Cichlid x1M and x3F

Dwarf Gourami x1M

Black Angelfish x2

Mystery Snails x4

And I will be getting some other fish... I will just be getting them after tank is setup and I am like "you know what I think this colored fish would look good so let's go find a fish that has that color and is suitable...

But I really want stingrays and I actually could put them in my other 55 that has sand and clown Loaches, small arowana ( I know will out grow tank and I am considering uping the tank to 150-200 for Arowana) and BGK

I would skip the ray man. 55 is gonna be too small for even a teacup for life. And if you were to attempt it, would be better to have the tank completely open, and your other fish wouldn't appreciate the lack of décor.
In the 150-200 (which will not be large enough for Arowana for life either) it would be do-able. But I wouldn't get ahead of yourself. Get the tank first, then the fish. Read through the stickies in the stingray section.
Here is a good one

Alright... I was 99% sure I couldn't but I thought there is still that 1% chance of being able lol... Thanks for the straightforward answer. I like those where it is like no or yes not a beat around the bush answer lol

MODs feel free to close thread I got my answer

I attended a lecture by one of the foremost ray experts, (she runs the ray exhibit at the Vancouver Aquarium, and spends time every year collecting rays in their habitat.)
At the talk she said any tank with a footprint smaller than 300 gallons, is too small for even the smallest ray species.

They have a freshwater ray exhibit at Vancouver? Around here they always have cownose rays, and keeping them in a tank less than 6'x10' would be downright cruel IMO. They wouldn't even really be able to turn around.

YUp, here in Vancouver we have a cownose Ray exhibit, tiger ray, Leopoldi exhibit, and a large tank with bunch of rays and monster fish

Ya I gave up on getting a ray...

I am considering a 150 gallon tank
But I was already told that it would be to small so if I get the 150 I will go with keeping my BGK and centering everything about it
