found out the hard way why rays are truly better kept by themselves in the last month I have lost 3 rays too a strigata pike I only now learned who the real culprit was... the flower I wrote off as stress from the larger motoros till I think back to it and relized its tail was bittin. the other motoro my 10inch female had very small bite on tail and disk then developed a sore on her boddy and ultimately passed about a week ago... I moved some fish arround and was about to really thin the stock list and found sunday my male had his disk shredded close to 50% of it last night I had to put him down:(... now I know the hard way that they have to be kept by themselves...

Sorry for your losses. I don't really agree with you with mixing rays as many of our members have rays long term with many different types of fish. I believe mixing pike's with anything is a risk. The only pike I own is the biggest ******* fish that I have. He is constantly bullying my tigrinus who is almost twice his size. Basically just a jerk to everyone in the tank. This is why i will never keep pike's again.

I will keep pup rays with my black aro and my dats as I know they will be fine but I'm venturing to ponds now for all new rays I buy.. I know what you mean I worded it wrong I have seen lots of mixes of rays and fish on here I'm not all with it yet its been a very bad month in the hobby

Sorry to hear that Nic. Nate had told me about the one ray about a week ago. Sometimes mixing fish is a real pain and you learn the hard way what doesn't work. I miss the simplicity of species only tanks.
