I was just told by a lfs that the stingray exporters may do things to the stingrays that cause them to be sterile. I heard they may use things like hormones to make them grow fast or slow and/or they dip the males claspers in a solution that makes them sterile. Why? So we have to keep buying from them! Not sure how true this is as I have seen people breed regular black rays but in turn I haven't seen any of the high priced black rays being bred.

Anybody hear of this before?

Vamptrev is right dont listen to your lfs there are plenty of top price rays being bred

could be the LFS is looking for your business to "trust" them more than getting your rays somewhere else. "hey, look, we get ours from someone who doesn't do this, buy from us. all other places are bad!" or could just not know what they're talking about and rerouting gossip that they've heard from other BS'ers.

Definetly BS.

But then again there's plenty of BS here too. Best way to get ray advice is to listen to those you know are trustworthy.

It's a common trend to see people regurgitate the same info here despite the fact that many of those giving advice have little experience to back it up.

It's really simple, when in doubt ask here. Take the advice of those you trust or have trustworthy reputations and just ignore everything else.
